The Audit

What to automate, what to keep human, and what you can stop doing entirely. Two hours inside your workflows, one page back within a week.

The problem

Most organizations own more than they realize: software they’re already paying for, templates somebody built years ago, a website that mostly works. Nobody has time to step back and look at all of it at once.

Who it’s for

Small communications teams: associations, non-profits, and small businesses where one or two people do all of it. You know AI matters. You don’t have time to become an expert, and what you need to know is what it’s good for in your own work, not in general.

What you get

I spend two hours inside your actual workflows: newsletters, member communications, casework, reporting, whatever eats your week. Then you get one page, written for the people who will act on it:

  • Automate The tasks AI can take off your plate now, with the specific tools and prompts to do it.
  • Keep human The work where your judgment is the product, and automating it would hurt you.
  • Stop doing The things nobody would miss. There are always some.
  • Stop paying for Tools you’re paying for twice, or paying for and not using. (Non-profits: the full free-and-discounted eligibility review is its own service, the Non-Profit Software Audit.)

No forty-slide deck, no jargon, nothing you need a technical background to act on.

How it works

  1. Book a free 20-minute call through the contact form, and we confirm it’s a fit.
  2. I observe your workflows for two hours, live on a call or on your own schedule, from recordings and documents you send.
  3. You get the plan within a week, plus a half-hour walkthrough.

Fixed price, fixed scope: $900 CAD. There’s no hourly rate, so the price doesn’t grow as the work goes. Registered charities and incorporated non-profits get 15% off ($765), the same as every price on the services page. GST is added where applicable.

If the audit turns up nothing worth changing, I’ll say so plainly and put it in writing. The fee stands; knowing your workflow is sound is worth having on paper.

If you want help implementing any of it afterward, we can talk then. The fee is credited toward any package booked within 30 days. The audit isn’t a sales call with a deliverable attached.

Why me

I spent seven years on the communications team of a students’ association, ending as its communications specialist, in a sector that has every reason to be suspicious of this technology, and I was suspicious too. Then I learned to direct it properly and to check its work. That second part is what I audit for. The goal is the same as everything I do: you end up more capable, not more dependent.

I’ve been experimenting with AI since ChatGPT opened to the public on November 30, 2022, and I’ve attended Upper Bound, Amii’s AI conference in Edmonton, three years running, from 2024 to 2026.

I rebuilt a bulletin reaching 20,000+ students as an HTML template built with Claude Code, the code read and edited by hand, that any staff member can run without touching code. I researched, built, and launched an SMS channel from nothing to 1,000+ subscribers. And during a mayoral debate we hosted, the audience-question QR code failed on camera, mid-broadcast. I diagnosed it in under a minute, rebuilt the live form inside the dead link, and the question round resumed. Most of the 4,300 watching never knew. The full story is here.

And the quieter receipt: I moved that organization off borrowed email infrastructure onto its own Google Workspace for Nonprofits (about 35 accounts across two domains, two-factor enforced, $0 in licensing) and more than once stopped a department from buying software the non-profit tier already gave them free. That eligibility hunting is now its own service, the Non-Profit Software Audit.

The case studies are here, and the resume is here. Both worth ten minutes before you spend $900 on my opinion.

I had the opportunity to hire Jordan when our organization was looking to take our brand positioning to the next level and find new ways to capture students’ attention around the programs, services, concerts, and events available to them.

Jordan brought a tremendous amount of creativity, energy, and passion to the work. What stood out most was his ability to take our team’s vision and bring it to life in ways that were engaging, thoughtful, and outside the box.

Jordan is someone who doesn’t just think creatively — he pays attention to the details and follows through to deliver the work. He has a great ability to listen, understand the bigger picture, and turn ideas into something tangible that connects with an audience.

If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box thinker who brings creativity, passion, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver, Jordan is your guy. I would be happy to recommend him to any organization looking to elevate their brand and bring their vision to life.

Jordan and I worked together at SAIT Students’ Association for several years, and our professional paths ended up overlapping in a pretty unique way. We originally worked together behind the bar at The Gateway, and over time we both moved into assistant manager roles in different departments. One of the projects I especially enjoyed working with Jordan on was SAIT Students’ Association’s Tax Program, where we collaborated to improve the forms, streamline the student intake process, strengthen communication, and make the overall experience easier for students to navigate. Those improvements helped us successfully support more than 1,700 students in filing their taxes free of charge through the CVITP program, an extraordinary result that set a new benchmark for a post-secondary tax clinic in Alberta. To my knowledge, that level of participation has not since been surpassed by another post-secondary institution in Calgary, or even by SAIT Students’ Association itself. It remains one of the accomplishments from that program that I am most proud of, and Jordan played an important role in helping us get there.

Jordan has always been someone who looks at a process and immediately starts thinking about how it could work better. He brings a great mix of creativity, practical problem solving, communication, and genuine care for the people on the other side of the work. I always appreciated that he was willing to challenge inefficient processes, bring forward new ideas, and actually put in the work to turn those ideas into something useful. He was also a strong collaborator who understood that sometimes the biggest challenge was not creating the information, but figuring out how to get students to actually read it.

It is pretty funny looking back at where everything started. We went from working busy nights at The Gateway and learning how to handle fast-paced, people-focused environments to eventually stepping into assistant manager roles and collaborating on projects that had a meaningful impact on the student experience. There is something pretty special about seeing that kind of professional growth happen side by side. We both started in very hands-on roles, learned a lot along the way, and eventually found ourselves contributing at a much higher level while still being able to laugh about where it all began.

While Jordan and I did not always see eye to eye on everything, I’m genuinely grateful for the years we worked together and would gladly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who brings creativity, initiative, strong collaboration, and a real desire to improve the way things are done. He is reliable, thoughtful, adaptable, and someone I would confidently trust to take ownership of meaningful work and follow through.
